I’m on a big project right now around cloud adoption, and I am working with – it’s a big healthcare project – and they actually still have some on-prem. So it’s kind of, I don’t know, grounds me back in reality, right? Because not everybody’s in cloud. So I have been working with them to identify patterns based on my eleven years of experience so that they can move parts of their business, because they need to modernize like yesterday. So they’re in this really challenging position where they’re physically out of space in their data center. So I started by, I wrote an article around cloud adoption patterns and I felt like this could be shared more broadly. And so when Agile India approached me, I was excited to be able to share this information.

Q: What does the future hold in that regard in terms of cloud adoption? You’re going to cover a lot of this in the keynote.

Well, one of the things that I think that I’m on the cutting edge because of the amount of data for genomics is that you have to deal with computers and are you going to use VMs or Kubernetes or all that. And I’ll talk about that, but I always start with data. And data is evolving beyond databases. Databases are there, but data lakehouses and data mesh now is emerging because you have this need I mean, I’ll speak from genomics, this need for global aggregation of (in case of COVID), these specialized data sets that are on the cloud, on different clouds. So maybe it’s my own background, but it’s all about data. And I think that that is going to become more pervasive in cloud computing as we have the opportunity in other domains to get more data. What I’m really aiming to do is to give you practical, usable patterns. So they’re going to come out of domains like genomics and fintech. But I’m really aiming to aggregate my eleven years of experience and to give you six core and then a few extra patterns that you can immediately adopt and use in your particular cloud implementation.
